Description
Traditional use of the Shore Pine boughs included relief from body aches and pains and also in respiratory support. To breathe better, calm, lift and refresh fatigued spirits!
A bright and refreshing aroma with citrus-like qualities of these similar, versatile trees.
Adaptable, resilient and new beginnings exemplify the Shore Pine. This adaptable tree thrives in a wide range of ecosystems and soil types. The oil’s regenerative qualities reflect the character of the tree – once conditions are appropriate, these Pines are among the first to grow following forest fires and other forest disturbances.
Pine is a valuable resource for Coastal Indigenous peoples as an essential building material, as well as a springtime delicacy and topical ailment for body soreness and aches.
Who We Are
Great Bear Rainforest® Essential Oils is a social enterprise supported by the Coastal First Nations Great Bear Initiative — a non-profit society and alliance of eight First Nations on British Columbia’s North and Central Coast and Haida Gwaii.
Our home is the beautiful and remote coastal region known as the Great Bear Rainforest, named for the black, grizzly and rare white “spirit” bears that inhabit this globally-important temperate rainforest.
We are the people of the rainforest and the ocean, who have lived in and stewarded these lands and waters for millennia. We carve totem poles, canoes and masks, weave cedar bark and spruce roots from our strong forest trees, and remain vitally connected to the ocean for food and travel.
What We Do
Great Bear Rainforest® Essential Oils are carefully steam-distilled from fresh, sustainably harvested conifer needles gathered in the Great Bear Rainforest region.
The Great Bear Rainforest® Essential Oils venture creates sustainable, long-term employment for individuals with limited opportunities in our remote communities.
Since our stewardship responsibilities extend to the well-being of our people, this initiative enables us to strike a crucial balance between economic prosperity and environmental protection, while supporting our Nations and ensuring our diverse people, culture and languages continue to thrive.
